Welcome to Those Who Mourn Community

Because healing happens in community

Those Who Mourn Community

Join a group of fellow Catholics who desire to lean into the goodness, truth, and beauty of our Catholic faith to find hope and healing after the death of a loved one.

Why Join?

Our community and memberships are pretty special. We’re focused on the ways that connecting with others can bring deep healing to our broken hearts.

We know that not every parish offers bereavement support, but significant healing takes place in the context of community. Unfortunately, not all of our friends are able to walk alongside us as we grieve, and this can serve to make us feel isolated in our pain. Finding understanding, compassion, and validation from others in the experience of grieving helps us to realize that we are not alone.

The monthly membership means that you can join anytime you feel like you need some extra support and stay for as long as you want.

Join today and you'll have instant access to:

  • Weekly discussion questions to help you process your grief no matter where you are on your healing journey
  • A growing Spotify playlist of beautiful, healing music to help you focus on your faith in the midst of your pain including all the hymns featured in Those Who Mourn magazine
  • A chance to interact with Those Who Mourn regular contributing authors. If you've been touched by their writing, you can let them know!
  • Live grief support groups
  • Monthly group coaching
  • Monthly live workshops to help you process your grief and find healing from the pain of loss while leaning into your faith (You'll also have access to the growing library of recordings of previous workshops including topics such as how your unique temperament influences your grief, managing the thoughts that come with grief, setting healthy boundaries, navigating difficult family relationships, and creative workshops to help you process your grief with art.)
  • Printable prayers each month to help guide you when prayer feels hard
  • Quarterly book club
  • Community activities, like writing and photo challenges, creative activities, Bible studies, holiday exchanges, and more!

Meet Your Host

I'm Eileen Tully, the creator and editor of Those Who Mourn magazine. I have a passion for sharing the hope of the Catholic faith with those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. After losing four children to miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death, I experienced a crisis of faith, and searched in vain for Catholic grief support.

I found great healing by going deeper into the truths of the Catholic faith, and founded Sursum Corda, an apostolate specifically for mothers who have experienced pregnancy and child loss, before creating Those Who Mourn magazine. I became a certified Catholic coach and now use my experience, knowledge, and coaching skills to provide practical tools to help you find healing from the pain of loss and grow in your faith.

Those Who Mourn magazine will always be a free online resource for Catholics who are grieving.

Here's what's happening inside the community:

Our monthly workshop for July will be a watercolor workshop about secondary losses.

Secondary losses are all those things we have lost in addition to our loved one who died.  These losses can complicate our grieving and understanding them can help us to be more gentle with ourselves as they come up.

A simple watercolor set and paper are all that is required for this workshop!

This workshop takes place Tuesday, July 21st at noon Eastern.

Our summer Book Club will take place in August.

We'll be reading this beautiful little book by Fr. Jacques Philippe, Searching for and Maintaining Peace: A Small Treatise on Peace of Heart.

Join us at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays in August, beginning August 4th.

We're studying the Psalms this summer!

Join us for a Bible study on the Psalms as we read through the whole book over the course of 15 weeks.  The pace is leisurely, with plenty of downtime to catch up, but the richness and depth of this book will add peace and praise to your summer. If prayer has felt challenging, or you've been unsure how to start studying the Bible, this is for you!

Unsure if this community is what you need? Here's what one member has to say:

This safe space has been sacred to me, and I cannot thank Eileen enough for the gifts she has shared with us...coaching, book clubs, workshops…many aimed to help us survive and thrive within our grief but also to strengthen our virtues, relationships, and marriages.
